Youth Empowerment Against Drug Abuse (YEADA)
In recent times, the abuse of drugs in the world has become rampant especially amongst the youths whom it seems to have resided with. According to findings, over 60% of Nigerian youths are involved in deliberate abuse of drugs.
The Evergreen Initiative perceived that our country Nigeria is not fully absolved of this menace. In partnership with the Office of the President on Youth Affairs and Goal Initiative, they initiated a program to address this issue.
This realization gave birth to a platform; on which the focus is based on our intent to contribute greatly in tackling the challenge of the gradual increase of drug abuse amongst youths in the country. The YEADA program held on 8th December 2016.
The sensitization program in the FCT-Abuja was coloured with the attendance of individuals from various parts of the country; a large number of youth corps members and others, the presence of notable Speakers, Government officials, and members of civil society groups as well as Experts on the topic also contributed to the gradient at the event.
The program was used as a tool to pass the message across and as a result, the organization is able to counsel and send a number of Drug abusers to rehabilitation centres situated in the country. Sequential visitations and follow –ups are carried out up till this date.
